A Victorian end-of-terrace in Ealing, reworked from the ground up by the client's architect. Our brief was to fit The Willesden — a single contiguous run of fluted European oak — into the new rear extension, and to make the room feel quieter than the street outside.
Hardware is patinated brass, set flush. The island is carved from a single block of honed Roman travertine, and the back wall conceals a working scullery for the daily mess of cooking.
Within The Space
Drift through the room — the small moments that hold it together, caught up close.

Hand-set Brass.
Patinated brass pulls sit flush into the fluted oak — soft to the touch, made to dull and warm over years of use.

Quiet Stone.
A single block of honed Roman travertine, softened at the bullnose. The everyday objects of the house collect on it.

The Back of House.
Behind the oak wall, a working scullery — deep ceramic sink, open shelving for plates, the room that takes the mess.

In Their Words
“They drew the room out of us, then quietly disappeared into it. Six months in, the oak still feels like it grew here.”
