The Bar

The Bar.

A concealed drinks bar lined in fluted oak and antique mirror. Doors slide flush into the cabinetry, revealing a brass-lit shelf for glassware and decanters.

Chapter I

The Brief.

A studio collection on display in our showroom. The Brondesbury is set around a single marble island and a wall of full-height oak joinery — brass tapware, exposed brick and warm task lighting give the room the feel of a working scullery.

The Palette

A handful of materials, allowed to age.

A quiet study in contrast — pale joinery set against dark stone, warm parquet underfoot. Every material was chosen to deepen with use — the room is expected to look better in ten years than it does today.

  • Reclaimed European oak laid in a tight chevron, finished in a hard wax that lets the grain hold light. The warmth of the floor is what carries the room.

  • Ovens, fridge and dishwasher sit flush behind matched cream fronts. Nothing branded, nothing visible — the wall is allowed to read as a single quiet plane.

  • Worktops in honed Nero Marquina, finished matte so the marble drinks the light rather than reflecting it. Edges are softened by hand.

  • Tapware and hardware in unlacquered brass, allowed to dull and mark with use. The brief was to let the metal age in step with the kitchen.

  • No visible handles or trim. A continuous 6mm shadow gap runs the height of every door, giving the panelling its rhythm and the room its discipline.

  • Low brass picture lights and concealed under-shelf strips at 2400K. Work surfaces are lit warm and close; no ceiling downlights flatten the joinery.

A Note From The Studio

“We wanted the room to feel as though it had always been there — as if the house had simply remembered what it was for.”
